In the last couple of years, Andre 3000 has taken a not so brief hiatus from music career to work on his other passion, acting. 3 Stacks has been playing the role of his life as his idol, Jimi Hendrix in the upcoming biopic All Is By My Side. All Is By My Side is said to cover the early year’s of Hendrix’s life. Before the fame. One of his girlfriend’s Kathy Etchingham, who is portrayed by actress Hayley Atwell, claims that the movie is very inaccurate. She also isn’t to fond of the casting Andre 3000 as Jimi or the wardrobe.

She sat down with Sunday Express to voice her concerns with the movie.

““Andre and Hayley Atwell are much older than Jimi and I were and it shows… I wrote them an email when I first heard about it saying if you want any help don’t hesitate to contact me. They didn’t reply… It’s got Austin Powers written all over it. I would not be seen dead in anything like that.”

Etchington was considered Hendrix’s common-law wife and was the inspiration for the song ‘The Wind Cries Mary’ so she may know a little about the subject of Jimi’s life. The biopic filmmakers have not given any reason as to why they didn’t contact Etchington for any help with the movie.

Assuming they had their own vision for the film, Etchington continues by saying the film suggests that she, Hendrix, and model Linda Keith were together at some point but Etchington claims that she has never spoken to Keith.

“Jimi told me he had only known Linda Keith for about a week cumulatively. They can’t possibly have us on the screen together because I’ve never spoken a word to Linda Keith.”

She adds.

“A lot of people will go and see it who have never read any of the biographies and they will think it’s gospel truth. I don’t want it to fundamentally change history.”

All Is By My Side was written and directed by John Ridley and is set to be released some time this Fall.
